These Spandex sheets are a great way to get children into bed and help them relax once they are there.
Operating on a similar concept to aggravation blankets, these sheets provide a deep pressure input that helps soothe overstimulated children/adults and prepare them for a good night's sleep.
The sheets are "one big tube" that slides over the entire mattress, making them easy to remove for washing or travel. This also allows children to stretch and push with arms and legs, or crawl underneath without the sheet coming off the bed.
*This sleep tunnel is for a standard mattress that is between 70-100 cm wide.
Bed sheets with sensory compression - single bed
Hana© sheets with sensory compression offer soothing sensory input to help calm an overstimulated sensory system, ready for a good night's sleep.
Our sheets are unique, made from our premium Spandex Super Soft, breathable fabric. They are an excellent alternative to an aggravation blanket.
Our sheets are not manufactured using standard lycra, we specialize in soothing the sensory system using Spandex Super Soft, which is breathable and specifically designed for sensory care.
Hana© sensory sheets slide over the mattress and have 2 open ends, allowing for easy removal for washing. Our sensory sheets are the perfect complement for any child or adult living with anxiety, ADHD, autism, sensory processing disorder or PTSD by providing soothing sensory input.
For safety: not suitable for children under 2 years of age.
Instructions for use:
To apply the tunnel around the mattress, lift the mattress up by the foot end and from there, slide the tunnel over the mattress until it fits tightly around it. The tunnel is narrower than the mattress so this can be quite a chore. After attaching the tunnel, you can put the comforter back on the bed over the tunnel if desired. When the child/adult goes to sleep he crawls from the head end under the tunnel as far as he or she feels comfortable with the head above the tunnel. The top of the tunnel is deliberately unfinished because this is at the expense of the stretchability of the fabric and because a hem at the top can be perceived as annoying in highly sensitive children. The use of the sleeping tunnel by children under the age of 2 years is not recommended.
Washing instructions:
The tunnel can be washed at 40 degrees and if it is very stretched by use you can also wash it once at 60 degrees. In the dryer the tunnel can also shrink slightly again but the elastan in the fabric often does not react well to the heat of the dryer so we advise against that in view of the longevity of the tunnel.
*Extra info:
The Sensory Sleep Tunnel fits around about two-thirds of a standard mattress. This leaves enough room for the head to stick out at the top and the feet to stick out at the bottom. An open bottom also makes it easier to install the Sleep Tunnel or just take it off.
